Anyone here seen Mumford & Sons in concert? If so, how was it? Have a chance to see them at Monterey Fairgrounds this weekend and wondering worth the time involved (them, Gogol Bordello, Two Gallants, etc).

They are definitely talented. I haven't seen them but I would at the show you're describing. Even if they don't crank my tractor like some others, it is a band I can talk about with with some of my more country oriented neighbors. As for these sorts of stretches, I saw the Punch Brothers not too long ago and was really impressed, even if they don't transport like the Dead they do play like hell and are a lot of fun. Their banjo player is amazing.

From what I hear Gogol Bordello is probably worth the time by themselves.

They are great and I've seen 'em before, so I don't "need" to see them. But thinks for weighing in. Mumford just doesn't move me like it does the "kids", but, then again, I've never seen them and they might be worth the hype that sold out 10,000 tix in under a day.

BD, at your(our) age nothing will move you like it does the kids. I saw Mumford et al last year and it was good enough. BTW, Jack White is playing two shows at a small theatre here in Toronto in October. It sold out in 2.5 minutes. I was lucky enough to grab two.

My buddy that is hooking me up with Mumford tickets said he saw the two Jack White shows at Outside Lands - one on main stage with guy band, and the other "pop up" show in a little grove with the all girl band. He said it was fantastic and that hearing White Stripes' tunes with full band was awesome. He's not easily impressed as he's been in the music industry for over 30 years and rarely raves about anything. He raved about Jack White. Enjoy.

I'm going to try to make it in for both shows just to see the two bands. It's been years since I've looked forward to a show like this. The album has been in the rotation since you sent out the alert back in April. Easily one of the albums of the year.
